BGBFollowing some information gap in the list of the rescued boat people provided by Myanmar authorities, the delegation of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has cancelled its Myanmar tour on Sunday to verify Bangladeshis out of 208 rescued migrants at sea, BGB officials said.

A 11-member BGB delegation led by Cox’s Bazar sector commander Colonel Md Khalequzzaman was scheduled to leave Teknaf for Myanmar on Sunday morning to verify Bangladeshis among the migrants.

Md Khalequzzaman said at a press conference at Teknaf that there are no adequate information in the list.

“We have further requested Myanmar to send a complete list,” he added.

Myanmar Navy rescued 208 Malaysia-bound migrants at the Bay of Bengal on May 24. Myanmar claimed that among rescued migrants, 200 are Bangladeshi nationals, and requested BGB to bring them back.

Of the list, there are 14 people hailed from Kutupalong of Ukhia upazila. It is also believed that there are Rohingyas in the list.
